Midland has introduced MESH technology on some specific models, but let's see in detail what its characteristics and system limitations are.
The main feature of the midland Mesh system is without a doubt the price, significantly lower than competing systems.
Is the performance of the Midland Mesh the same as that of the competition?
Here the low price is also partly justified, the Mesh midland is limited in terms of the conference communication system, it allows a maximum of 6/10 connected users, it depends on the device you own.
The communication distance of the Midland Mesh is significantly lower than competing Mesh systems, in the composition 1 motorcyclist + 1 motorcyclist it can reach 700* meters in Mesh and 500* meters in Bluetooth. (*declared values)
MESH CONFIGURATION
In the Mesh configuration the declared fixed distance remains in any case with a radius of 700 metres, we can put it as we want but 700 meters for a mesh I would say is little compared to the competition, in this Midland scheme the bike n1 can talk to the bike n10 , then the group distance reaches 1400 meters.
**Configuration with Pilots only
DYNAMIC REPEAT MESH CONFIGURATION
In the Mesh Dynamic Repeat configuration, 3400 meters (declared by Midland) can be reached by placing 6 pilots in single file.
Final consideration is only on the distances declared by Midland which are actually excessive compared to reality.
Considering the total characteristics of the two Mesh products from Midland and above all the sellingprice , we believe that it is an excellent product for small groups, ideal for trips with friends, I do not consider it suitable for full throttle pilots, as the short connection range, combined with crazy speed can cause the connection to drop, but being a Mesh system it is easy to resume it immediately and get back in communication with the group.
